Antique 1860s Victorian Bronze Crucifix with Ebonized Wood Base – Renaissance Revival Era

Here we have a Victorian-era Christian Crucifx dating from the 1860s, during the Renaissance Revival period / American Civil War. This beautifully crafted piece features a gilt bronze (or possibly dore bronze) corpus of Christ affixed to a wooden cross, mounted on an ebonized wood base. While the precise gilt material is uncertain—it may be gilt silver or gilt gold—the craftsmanship and patina are consistent with fine 19th-century ecclesiastical items.

Approximate Dimensions: 5 1/4"L x 3"W x 13 1/8"H
Weight: 7oz

*Condition*
Displays expected wear for its age, with strong patina to the metal, surface wear to the base, and some gilt loss revealing copper beneath. The nail of the left hand appears to be mising so the hand is no longer affixed to the cross. The cross and base are structurally intact. Please closely inspect all photos and let us know if you have any questions regarding the item or shipping.
