Vintage 1976 Ibanez 2388B (“Ibanbacker”) "Fireglo"/ Maroon Finish Lawsuit 4001 Model, Joe Barden JBE R4000 Hand-wound Pickups, Hard Tweed Case

Here is a vintage 1976 Ibanez 2388B, a MIJ Japanese-made “lawsuit copy” bass modeled after the classic Ric 4001. This bass was produced during the peak of Ibanez’s high-quality replication period, and it retains the signature elements that made these copies sought after by collectors and players alike.

Great tone, easy to play, and very comfortable.

*Condition*

We consider this bass to be in very good vintage condition. Recently was given a complete inspection & professional set up by our luthier, Dave Fecca Guitar Repairs, Moorestown, NJ.
This bass is ready to be played, gigged, used for recording and enjoyed. Cosmetic wear consistent with age: notable finish chips on headstock top & edges. Very small gash on top right edge. Chipping around the top strap pin. Small dings on the sides of the body as well as the lower back. Some minimal wear on the rosewood fingerboard. Frets were leveled, cleaned & exhibit loads of life left. Metal hardware shows patina and surface oxidation, typical for vintage instruments. Chip & a crack (see closeup pics) on the truss rod cover, some unfilled holes next to the replaced strap pin on the bass bout side, as well as extra screw holes down under next to the lower strap pin. Each strap pin has been moved from their original locations, for reasons unknown. There's a 1/2” long X 1/8” wide, noticeable chip above the lower strap pin on the edge of the guitar body(see close up pic, EZ repair).

Electronics were tested, cleaned and are fully functional. Nut, truss rod cover, and pick guard appear original to our trained eyes. Includes a non original form-fitting, MIC tweed hard case (red lined interior). Case has some scars from use, 3 functioning larches, all hardware is intact.
